FAT TIRE BIKES
Just cause there is snow on the ground doesn’t mean you can’t ride. Check out the information regarding Fat Tire Bikes! Presented by our partners at Leland House / Lola’s
Fat tire bikes have several advantages that might appeal to you depending on your preferences:
Versatility: They’re designed to handle various terrains like snow, sand, mud, and rocky trails due to their wide tires, providing better traction and stability. If you enjoy off-road adventures or live in an area with diverse terrain, a fat tire bike might be a good fit.
Comfort: The wider tires act as shock absorbers, offering a smoother ride by absorbing bumps and vibrations, which can be beneficial if you’re riding on rough or uneven surfaces.
All-season Riding: Fat tire bikes are great for all seasons. In winter, their wide tires can easily navigate through snow, and in other seasons, they perform well on trails, beaches, or any loose terrain.
Fun Factor: Many cyclists find fat tire bikes to be incredibly fun to ride due to their stability and traction. The feeling of cruising over different terrains can be exhilarating.
Fitness and Training: Riding a fat tire bike can provide a good workout due to the increased resistance from the wider tires, making it an excellent option for those looking to improve their strength and endurance.
However, they might not be for everyone. Consider where and how you plan to ride. If most of your cycling will be on regular roads or well-maintained paths, a fat tire bike might not be the most efficient choice due to increased rolling resistance. Also, they can be heavier than traditional bikes, so if portability or speed is a top priority for you, it’s something to keep in mind. Be sure to check out fat tire bikes at one of our partner shops in Durango.
Pedal Durango along with our Partners Leland House / Lola’s is sponsoring two events for this years SnowDown festival. Both events will be at the Leland House / Lola’s location. The events will be a SnowDown bike limbo contest and a no touch contest. See how long you can stay on your bike without touching the ground! Come on down to Leland House / Lola’s at 4pm February 1, 2024 to join the fun!
