Grassburger is a huge supporter of Durango’s incredible cycling community as well as Pedal Durango. When they make changes we want to make sure that everyone that rides a bike knows so that they can throw their support to Grassburger.
At Grassburger, we have made some changes that further support our mission of cleaner food and sourcing that is sustainable and better for us, the animals and the planet! We recently switched to organic brioche buns for our burgers, moved to avocado oil in our fryers (away from inflammatory seed oils), and best of all are now offering locally raised bison patties as an option (Durango market only).
The bison is raised in Hesperus by a local gal, Sarah Murphy. She is a regenerative agriculture educator and rancher extraordinaire! Sarah’s stunning Murphy Legacy Bison ranch is certified American Grassfed, Audubon Certified as well as part of the Ecological Outcome Verification project. Bison is a great source of protein, iron, zinc, B12 and Omega 3s. It’s lower in fat and calories than beef and is absolutely delicious!
We hope you will come by to try out some of our new items and send us feedback! It’s always appreciated. Go Durango!
Having Knee or Back pain when you Ride? Maybe it’s your seat height.
Check out this helpful information brought to you by Pedal Durango and Leland House and Lola’s
✅ Why Seat Height Matters
1. Power & Efficiency
A proper seat height lets your legs extend optimally, maximizing power output and pedaling efficiency.
Too low: You’ll tire quickly and pedal inefficiently.
Too high: You may overextend and lose power at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
2. Knee Health
Too low: Can cause knee pain in the front (patellar pain).
Too high: May cause strain in the back of the knee or hamstrings.
3. Hip & Lower Back Strain
An incorrect height can cause rocking hips, leading to lower back pain and saddle discomfort.
4. Comfort on Long Rides
Correct height reduces saddle pressure and makes long rides significantly more comfortable.
🎯 How to Set Your Seat Height (Basic Method)
Try the heel method:
Sit on the saddle.
Place your heel on the pedal.
Pedal backward to the 6 o’clock (bottom) position.
Your leg should be fully extended (but your hips shouldn’t rock side to side).
When you ride normally with the ball of your foot on the pedal, you’ll have a slight bend in your knee — perfect!
For a more precise fit, a bike shop can use tools or motion capture to measure your leg length and pedal stroke.
🚨 Signs Your Seat Height Is Wrong
Rocking hips while pedaling = too high
Knee pain = too low or too high
Can’t reach the pedal at bottom = too high
Legs feel cramped = too low
Numbness or pressure on soft tissue = possibly a seat angle issue (but height can contribute)
Seat height is critical for avoiding injury, improving pedaling efficiency, and staying comfortable — especially as your mileage increases for weight loss. It’s worth getting it dialed in early.
Pedal Durango highly recommends a professional seat evaluation and adjustment so that you can maximize your performance, ride for hours, and in comfort.
