Limited on time or just want to spin out your legs? The Half Valley Loop is a great ride that can do both. It is mostly flat with a few short rolling climbs on very good pavement. This popular local ride begins at Bread on Country Road 250 and heads north left at the stop sign at Trimble Lane, CR251. Go straight across the railroad tracks and through the green light and then left on CR203. At the end of CR203, to avoid highway traffic, take Animas View Drive across Highway 550 and head South to the next light at Main Ave, use caution here as it is also HWY550. If you don’t want to cross HWY550 twice to get to Animas View Dr you can continue straight and be on the HWY back to town. Turn left at the 32nd St light and ride east back to the next stop sign, CR250 and you have completed your wonderful ride through one half the Animas Valley. Don’t forget to stop at Bread to enjoy a drink and some freshly baked pastry, cookies and bread.
Local tips:
- Ride the loop in reverse to change things up
- Returning via Animas View Dr, jump on to the Animas River Trail at Oxbow Park
